Let's look back at all our wondering!

(Grown-up: read aloud.)

You have been a scientist, a builder and an artist! This review has a few questions from every lesson. Answer out loud, point, or show with your body. Your grown-up presses Show answer to check. If something feels tricky, go back to that lesson and play it again.

How to use this review

  • Do the review over two or three short sittings if your child gets tired. Kindergarten children learn best in short, playful bursts.
  • Read every question aloud. Let your child answer out loud, point, or act it out.
  • For "show me" questions, use the Look for notes to check.
  • If your child misses more than one question in a section, go back to that lesson and do its activity again. Hands-on play is the best practice.
  • Celebrate effort: "You thought hard about that!"
Check your understanding

For parents and teachers

Which lesson to revisit:

  • Says telling sentences instead of questions, or gets upset when a guess is wrong β†’ I Wonder! Asking Questions and Finding Out.
  • Thinks moving things (cars, clouds) are alive, or that plants are not β†’ Looking Closely at Living Things.
  • Mixes up sink and float, or hard and soft β†’ Exploring Materials.
  • Builds tall, thin towers that keep falling, or gives up quickly β†’ Build It, Test It, Make It Better.
  • Mixes up push and pull, or roll and slide β†’ How Things Move.
  • Can't name the seasons in order or match weather to seasons β†’ Our Natural World and the Four Seasons.
  • Unsure about colour mixing or line types β†’ Making Art.
  • Mixes up loud/soft and high/low, or speeds up the beat β†’ Music, Dance and Drama.
  • Says very little when sharing, or gives unkind feedback β†’ Show and Tell: Sharing and Thinking About What We Made.

Remember: In Kindergarten, the goal is curiosity, talk and trying, not perfect answers. Revisit lessons by playing the activities again, and keep asking "What do you notice? What do you wonder?"
