The province has added a final Reading Scope and Sequence for Kindergarten to Grade 3, with draft Oral Language and Writing scopes and sequences (2026) open for feedback.
Below is how the official curriculum organizes it. Each strand will get full lessons like the ones in Grade 1 Mathematics.
Texts on identity, community and social responsibility; how design choices add meaning in visual texts; follow oral directions; retell events in sequence
Speak clearly to familiar audiences; write stories, poems, letters, reports and observations with relevant details
Assess own language experiences using criteria; set personal learning goals
