New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood DevelopmentNew Brunswick
New Brunswick has two education sectors: this outline follows the Anglophone sector's NB Curriculum Framework, while the Francophone sector has its own programs. Learning is organized in blocks (Primary K-2, Elementary 3-5, Middle 6-8 and High School 9-12), each with learning areas, strands and big ideas; French is taught through Early French Immersion (from Grade 1), Late French Immersion (from Grade 6) or Intensive and Post-Intensive French. To graduate, students earn credit hours in required areas, including English Language Arts (24 credit hours plus the English Language Proficiency Assessment), mathematics, science, humanities, French, wellness and the arts.
